Tri-Level State Championship
Congratulations to all the Tri-Level State Champions!  Christian County Convention and Vistiors Bureau and the Pennyrile Tennis Association rolled out the red carpet once again for the second year of the state championships.  The teams that will be advancing to play in the Tri-State Tri-Level Championships October 15th-17th in Jackson, TN are:

Kentucky Players Claim 3 Sportsmanship Awards at Southern JTT Championships
3 of the 6 Sportsmanship Awards from the Southern JTT Championship have been awarded to players from Kentucky!
18 Advanced:  Abigail Tudor (Richmond) representing Arlington Country Club from the Bluegrass Tennis Conference in the Lexington area
12 Advanced: Mai Niru
ndorn (Louisville) representing the Ace’s from the Louisville Summer JTT League
12 Intermediate:  Hailey Kleban (Louisville) representing Springhurst-Martin from the Louisville Summer JTT League

Arthur Ashe Essay Winners 

Congratulations to Oldham County’s William Reed and Lexington’s Grace Trimble who will attend the 2010 US Open as winners of this year’s Arthur Ashe Essay Contest. Reed a member of the Rising Star’s NJTL was won of nine winners selected by USTA Southern. Trimble, who founded Lexington’s LTC Smart Shots NJTL, was one of ten national winners. Great job and enjoy the trip of a lifetime at the Open!

  

Raise a Racquet Funding Opportunities

With Jr. Team Tennis Leagues, summer tennis camps, and junior tournaments just around the corner, be sure to check out scholarship and funding opportunities available through USTA Kentucky's endowment fund, Raise a Racquet. Funding is available for all USTA Kentucky Juniors throughout the state and we are currently accepting grant requests. Click here for the application.

 

A Message from Patrick McEnroe about QuickStart

Patrick McEnroe and the USTA Player Development department recently addressed the importance of QuickStart and how it is changing the way youth tennis is played in the US.  McEnroe explains USTA’s goals associated with the QuickStart program and encourages all coaches, pros, parents, facilities, Community Tennis Associations, and anyone involved in tennis to join us in continuing these efforts to grow QuickStart.  Click here to read Patrick McEnroe’s message.
